International Girls in ICT Day Bootcamp

In order to address gender inequality in secondary schools and the crux of making important career and college education decisions, the STEMi Makers of Africa will be hosting the International Girls in ICT Day across Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Cameroon and Kenya.

Given the rapid expansion of ICT career opportunities, we believe that by targeting young women and providing them with the necessary 21st century skills, they will become powerful agents of change to achieve gender equality.
Girls will be exposed to Laser cutting technologies, Robotics, 3D Printing, Prototype Engineering, Software development, Cloud Computing and develop the awareness that mobile computing power can be used for addressing challenges faced by their local communities.

The events are proudly supported by:
  • The International Telecommunication Union (ITU)
  • UNESCO
  • Hacklab Foundation
  • Microsoft, Nigeria and Kenya
  • Enchird Technologies
  • Robotech Lab
  • Timiza Ndoto Initiative
  • The MAI Foundation for Women empowerment and Gender Advocacy.

At the end of the 5 Bootcamps, 180 young women and girls will be onboarded the Project Kuongoza technical program for continued learning and hands-on proficiency in Science, Technolgy, Engineering and Mathematics projects. We also hope to pair participants to job-shadowing and internship opportunities this summer.

If you would like to get involved or want STEMi Makers of Africa to extend this program to your community, email us at: info@stemimakersafrica.org.
