STEMi Makers of Africa emerge finalists from EU Tech Chamber for making STEM Education accessible for Educators in Africa

STEMi Makers of Africa has emerged as the European Technology Chamber (EUTECH) award finalist under the SD4: Quality Education category. The EUTECH SDG Awards are a prestigious recognition program that celebrates individuals, organizations, and initiatives that exemplify outstanding commitment and innovation in advancing the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These awards not only highlight outstanding projects and initiatives but also showcase success stories, demonstrating the positive impact of creative campaigning in line with the SDG agenda. The award aims to foster a global community dedicated to the shared vision of creating a more sustainable and equitable world.

With over 1000 nominations, the award ceremony is scheduled for January 28th, 2025 where winners and finalists will be announced. STEMi Makers of Africa was shortlisted through the STEM Integration and Development project for educators in Africa. The project initiative and objective improves teaching competencies and consequently, increase retention of young students’ participation in STEM PBL through physical computing, robotics, AI and IoT aligned to environmental thematic challenges. The impact project addresses the global undersupply of quality science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) educators by ensuring that low and mid-level educators effectively impart simpler yet challenging contents in the classroom while integrating the multiple disciplines, foster critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and serve as role models in enhancing students’ interest and competitiveness in STEM careers and green economy.
